I feel that I need to explain something regarding my home page. I stated that having a brain haemorrhage was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. I understand that this may sound a little flippant, and may be perceived as belittling the plight of brain haemorrhage sufferers. I am one of a tiny minority of people who have been able to make an almost full recovery. For someone who has experienced more serious disability, that statement may not be helpful. But I can only speak for myself. When Sarah and I were driving across America along Route 66, she told me that this holiday was worth having cancer for. When she said this, I thought of all those cancer sufferers who would never have the opportunity to turn their lives around, but nonetheless, that is how Sarah felt at the time. It was a valid statement to make.

I think that it's important that anyone reading this appreciates that by saying these things, we have no intention of being disrespectful to those who have suffered more than us. My book I'm Never Ill and this website have been written to explain about how, in our unique circumstances, we have been able to turn our own lives around. I am hoping that other people can benefit from hearing our story and maybe apply some positivity to their own lives as a result of it. Neither of us are completely out of the mire, and we still have our own battles related to our illnesses. However, looking at the whole picture, we are probably better off in our own lives as a result of our illnesses.
